1 had a 63 tempest station wagon back in 75, 4 cylinder engine. Bored it out to fit 400 Pontiac pistons. It ran good until I totaled it on a rainy night on a sharp curve. Wish I had it now. I had found a 4 barrel intake, but didn't get the chance to install it. Cool motor, and drive train.
I'm surprised you didn't replace the cam bearings ,oil pump and crank gear
How about a stock 400sbc long block with a cam and intake? roller cam upgrade since flat tappets as daily drivers are a liability these days. 91 gas if needed. Then do all that with basic head upgrade. We want daily drivers. The most power in a DD thats reliable.

1:47 High mileage LT1 guys... I learned the hard way this thing will kill your'e engine. Not this part but the gear on the other end that drives the oil pump. Mine was worn super thin after 180k of hard miles. I cranked it up one day and the gear teeth had worn so thin they sheared off when I started it. no oil PSI = rod knock. killed an otherwise still good engine. After my fiasco, I'd recommend you pull this thing every 150k and replace the gear on the other end. GM PN# 19052845. It will save your otherwise good high mileage engine from destruction.
2:08 that gear if worn will ruin your engine if you don't change it before it wears out.
GM PN# 19052845. That gear cost me around $8k. It's not to hard to change surprisingly. took about 3 hours to get to it and change it, another 4 hours to put it all back together.

I'm surprised you haven't done a ls coil pack dyno test. Rumor has it the round coils with heat sink at the top auto fire causing engine failure on the dyno.

Hahahah. These are always the funniest projects when there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain. I miss doing pointless stuff like this. It gets nerve racking when there’s a 30k$ engine on the dyno. This is more just for fun.

Why not make compression higher like 14:1
An incorrectly specified cam will be insensitive to incorrect timing. You have to test to find out, because you don't know what you're doing.

You stated the L78 cam equipped with a 3310 holly 780 my factory 396 425 was equipped with a 800 cfm holly from the factory never seen a L78 with a 780 ever from the factory

If you get a chance could you run the 292 with one of the aftermarket manifolds and the stock 1bbl. carburetor. I think it would be interesting to see what only changing one thing would to the torque and hp curves..
The corvette 396 425 hp engine use corvette only exhaust manifolds you ran a more restrictive manifolds

I have never run that block
I believe Hot Rod or one of those magazines built one when they first released that block it could possibly be found by googling it.
I’ve just found very few pump gas 427 builds and show great potential laying down mid to high 600hp marks what looks to be what a lot more aggressive cam shafted 110+ or e85 traditional headed sbc are scraping out these motors look like they could show a lot of capabilities

It's an LS cam-but I might have a SBC cam laying around
All you have to understand is that every engine is boosted. "NA" engines are boosted with 1 atmospheric. So higher boost doesnt change anything. Thats why all calculations are done in absolute pressure.

Could not get the live feed but I do have a couple questions about the 347stroker ,seen some top end kits that have canted valves and the stroker pistons to match which would be a 347. Boss wondering if I have to use the intake for the kit or can I use one of the 302-289-5.0 intakes i already have?
canted valve heads? as in Cleveland? If so, a 5.0L intake won't work on those

Not a Chevy guy but just like any other engine would be to get the lightest rotateing assembly possible that will be strong enough and then the highest compression for the type of fuel you want to use and then the most fuel and air you can get into and out of as possible, of course a stroker is an option, especially if you can keep it light as possible but that's pretty vague and generic without knowing much about the LS engine of course forced induction will increase power as well as adding cubic inches

I know this is a few years old but the torque specs on the retainer plate on the Gen 3 Aluminum engines was 18 ft lbs not 10...
